Something for everyone
Family Trails. We have 'I-Spy' style family trails to follow individually or as a family group. They are designed for age 6+ and are a great way for families to experience the museum, identify details and understand more about rural life in the 1930s. On completing a Trail children are rewarded with a prize.
Junior Model Making. We run 30 minute 'drop-in' scenic modelling sessions for 6-14 year olds on Wednesdays in the school holidays. These are included with the cost of admission and each child completes a small diorama to take home, and learns modelling skills from some of our expert modellers. Click Here to find out more.
Audio Guide. Our handheld audio guides help tell the story the models illustrate, highlighting aspects of life such as working on the railways and living in rural villages.
Tea Room. We stock a wide range of hot and cold drinks, snacks and light refreshments. For those seeking a meal there are several pubs and restaurants near the museum and our reception team can provide guidance on these.
Shop. We sell our own range of 3D printed model figures, railway and modelling books, and a range of fun gifts and souvenirs for younger visitors.
Babies. We have an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities. Whilst prams are welcome in the downstairs area and tea room, unfortunately we do not have access for prams or wheelchairs in the upstairs gallery. Prams can be left downstairs and young children and babies carried in the upstairs galleries. We have hot water for warming infant milk and formula, but unfortunately we do not currently have a microwave in the tea room.
