Ever wondered what it took to run a steam train? Join us in the 1930s and discover the people who made the railway work. Find out how the industrial revolution transformed the countryside before motorways and supermarkets, and explore why every job on the railway mattered from the Fireman shovelling coal to the Station Master keeping everything running on time.
This is a hands-on session led by our Learning Officer, followed by time to explore the museum with a specially designed activity book for you and your child to complete together. It is designed for ages 6+ (KS1 & KS2) and is limited to 15 students.
Your Day:
10:30 - Arrival and welcome
10:45 - Life on the Railway Session
11:45 - Lunch break (please bring a packed lunch)
12:30 - Collect your activity book and explore the museum at your own pace
2:30 - Museum closes
This session is £8 per child (no charge for Adults) and includes the session, museum entry and activity book. A resource pack will be emailed before your visit upon purchase of a ticket to help you prepare.
