Visits by Groups, Clubs and Societies

We provide an exclusive, leisurely and interactive experience for adult groups. The minimum group size is 25 people and the maximum is 60 people. For groups that are less than 25 we suggest a visit during normal public opening times. Group visits can be arranged on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Note that during school holidays the museum may be open to the public on some of these days.

Agreeing a date for your visit

When making your provisional choice please avoid any days on which we are open to the public and all Tuesdays. Please check your prospective date with the museum office. A date is only confirmed once we have received a booking form and deposit and acknowledged receipt of these. Note that the conducted tour normally lasts about 2 hours, and we try to accommodate visits between the times of 10:00 and 20:00. The conducted tour can only commence when the whole party is assembled.

Fees

The minimum fee, which is also the deposit, is £150.00 and this covers up to 25 people.
If a party consists of more than 25 people, there is an additional charge of £5.00 per additional person and this is paid at the time of admission. This is a fixed charge and applies to all categories of visitor including Friends of Pendon. The deposit can only be refunded if the cancellation is received in writing at least four weeks before the date of the event.

Applications

These must be made in writing, and should be made at least six weeks in advance of the requested date. The deposit must accompany a completed Pendon Special Booking Form which is obtainable from the museum office. Please ensure that daytime and evening telephone numbers are provided.

Disabled or mobility impaired visitors

Please look at the information here.

Travel

The Museum is at the west end of the High Street in Long Wittenham. It is well signed from all directions with brown signs.
Coaches or minibuses seating more than 10 (including the driver) need special authority to use the road leading to the Museum. You will need to provide details of the owner and the seating capacity when the booking is confirmed so that a permit can be issued. The driver must carry this permit for the visit.

Museum shop and tearoom

Books and souvenirs are on sale in the Museum shop during private visits. Hot and cold drinks, confectionery and biscuits are also available. The tearoom can be used for groups to eat food that they provide. Meals are available in the village – see here.
