Rural Life, Folklore & Foraging Adult Workshop

Wednesday 24th June

Step into the world of early twentieth-century rural life and discover how communities lived, worked, and cared for themselves before modern medicine became widely available.

This immersive workshop begins with an engaging talk exploring rural traditions, folklore, and the everyday remedies once used in homes and villages across the countryside. Drawing on real historical practices, this session offers a fascinating insight into how people understood health, nature, and traditions in the 1920s–30s.Participants will then take part in a guided foraging walk, learning to identify common plants and natural materials that were traditionally used for medicinal and practical purposes. The workshop concludes with a hands-on session where you will create your own simple rural remedies and folklore-inspired items to take home. This is a relaxed, exploratory session designed for adults with an interest in history, nature, and traditional crafts. No prior experience is needed.

The session has a limited availability, the cost is £40 per person and tickets can be purchased via our online partner website here:
