The former Leather Bottle has been converted to a house. It is located close to the GWR mainline north of Challow and was probably constructed as a pair of cottages in 17th Century. It became a inn around 1833 and attracted business from the railway - both during construction and subsequently. It has brick walls with white‑washed upper storey at right‑hand end and a weatherboard section at the left‑hand end.

The premises were altered and rebuilt after fires in 1975 and 1990, and in its latter days the business was focused on dining.

There is a family connection between the Leather Bottle and Chequers Inn in Charney Bassett. The landlady of the latter around 1900, Mary Froud, was a close relation of William Froud who the landlord of the former some years later.
